The Beer
The Silver Peak’s brews come out of our 10-barrel brewhouse that produces up to 310 gallons, or 2480 pints of beer per batch. The brewery is split into two levels. Behind the bar glass we have the brewhouse, at the same level with the restaurant; the cellar style serving room lies directly underneath.
We craft ales, lagers and occasionally Belgian style beers. Ales are top fermenting beers that tend to have a more robust flavor and be more aromatic. Lagers are bottom-fermenting beers thought to be smoother and more refined. Both are popular styles of beer and neither should be considered above the other. Each style has its time and place, especially at a restaurant with a wide variety of dishes.
So far, we’ve produced over 60 different styles of beer. Our house brews, the Red Roadster, XXX Blonde, Baileywheat Hefeweizen, Sierra Amber Ale, Peavine Porter and Silver Peak IPA, are all ales. Seasonality and “brewer’s whim” determine the specialty beers on tap at any given time.
We find it fun and challenging to make sure that each beer is distinct from the others we produce, while at the same time staying true to the specific look, smell, taste, and feel that each particular style demands.
We adhere to a relatively simple philosophy in the brewery: we only make great beer! Brewing has an immensely deep and colorful history, and we are proud to be craftsmen in the trade. Knowledge, good equipment, premium raw ingredients, and a passion to brew are key elements at our brewery. We consider it an honor to produce a beverage enjoyed by so many.
